University of Chicago Data Mirror

About

The Project emerged out of concern for the long-term accessibility of federal government datasets following the disappearance of federal agency datasets starting in February 2025. Since then, there has been a strong and swift response to archive and preserve these valuable datasets.

Parallel to archiving and preservation, there emerged a continued need for researchers and the public alike to access datasets in a stable environment. Thus, the Data Mirror Project was born. Duplicating data and moving it out of the federal government's storage system ensures long-term, stable access to some of the most used datasets today.
